Bentendo is a modern Japanese kitchen in downtown Vancouver, bringing familiar Japanese flavors together with a casual North American approach. Roast beef, steak, katsu, unagi, curry and more — all served in our signature jyu boxes.
Good Japanese food should be easy to enjoy. No special occasion needed, no dress code. Just come hungry.
Why a box?

In Japan, dishes such as unagi-don have long been served in beautiful lidded boxes. We loved the idea of bringing that style into everyday dining. A box keeps everything together, makes each meal easy to carry, and gives even a casual lunch a little something special.

The base of every jyu box. Cooked through the day so it reaches you hot, never chilled from a shelf.
A main, made to order
Steak grilled, roast beef sliced, katsu fried after you order — not before.
Sides in balance
Rolled omelette, greens, pickles and miso soup, chosen to sit properly alongside the main.
Signature boxes
Premium jyu boxes come with miso soup. Most are available in regular or large.
